"Downtown Cat"

Downtown Cat
5 x 7"
Oil on Wood board
Sold

This cat is from downtown Annapolis MD., love his relaxing motion by the door while watching everyone passing in the busy street. I took photo for him when we had vacation in Maryland. I guess maybe he is a cousin of Garfield's! -- he has such worriless life in these days than us.

"Fuel For A Day"

Fuel For A Day
6 x 6"
Oil on Wood board
Sold

This week, the DPW challenge is Karla's "Paint Your Mug Challenge". I finally get chance to show off one of my award from work few years ago--a big old coffee mug. It is seems like a soup bowl with a handle, doesn't have any fancy print on it, but I just love the way to hold it and drink up my daily fuel--coffee or soup.:-]

"Ice Water With Lime"-2

Ice Water With Lime-2
6 x 6"
Oil on Wood board
Sold
It is still a hot hot day, I played with my daughter outside in the afternoon, just for 10 minutes then have to run back inside. But I got chance to take some pictures for my little "ladybug" - today also is her 17 months old birthday!
Days go by fast, I feel so lucky to have the chance watching her grow up everyday, grateful for my hard working hubby and his parents support us!

"Lychee"

Lychee
6 x 6"
Oil on wood board

Lychee is one of special fruit to me. I've never had fresh lychee when I was child in China. It is impossible to keep lychees fresh or store them for longer time (not in the cans). Luckily my husband found fresh lychee in the local farmer's market, before the lychee season is over, I paint them to keep a long memory of the fresh taste.

"Love Memory"-Commissioned Portrait

Love Memory
8 X 10"
oil on Wood board
Commissioned

I did this commissioned portrait for Mrs. Willard referred by her husband's favorite photo which her father-in-law and their daughter were together on the beach at Cape Canavarel in Florida 22 years ago.  Her father-in-law recently passed away, she would like the focus to be more on them, but still show that they are on the beach. This painting will be a special gift for her husband and mother-in-law.
So, here is my final work. I followed her request and did a few changes to make it more like a piece of art not just a photo copy. When I was painting, I focus on the lovely moment in this photo, the grandpa and the little girl's bright smiling faces really touched me, and brought back lots of my childhood memory...

"Golden Jewelry Pouch"

Golden Jewelry Pouch
5 x 7"
Oil on Wood board

This Asian golden jewelry pouch is very handy to "wrap", but it is a little bit difficult to paint, especially in gold color. Combine with my Chinese earrings make a fortunate present.

"Summer is Here"

Summer is Here
6 x 6"
Oil on Wood board
Sold
Summer is not the best time of year in Florida. Windows are covered by the blinds and curtains, AC is running most of the time everyday. "Snow birds" are gone, hurricane season starts...While I was looking for something to paint from outside the window, I discovered this mockingbird standing on top of the metal decoration, he was enjoying his image reflected on the window. Feel like he is telling me - summer is here!

"Porcelain Spoon"

Porcelain Spoon
5 X 7"
Oil on Wood board

This ONE color (burnt umber) value challenge is really not as easy as I thought! I never paint with one color and without white before. In the middle of the painting process, I tried to give up this challenge few times...but I didn't. Now here I am, very satisfied with my final resource. Thank you Carol for this very challenging subject.

"Brussels Sprouts"-Vegetable Series

Brussels Sprouts
6 X 6"
Oil on Wood board
(Sold)
These baby size cabbage-like vegetables are so cute! When I paint them, feel like painting a group of soldiers in camouflage.
I know them from my husband. He is a big fan of this. I like the bitter flavor in it. As long as they are healthy for us, I love to have them once in a while.

Window Shopping for Mother's Day

Let's see what's the good deal for Mommy's Day?...

My daughter is the best gift for me already! I am such a blessed mother.
Happy Mother's Day to all hard working loving mothers!
