Sandra--Portrait for An Artist

Sandra Holm
8 x 10"
Oil on Board
This is my entry of "Year End Challenge" on "DSFDF" . I am so glad to have this beautiful artist's high quality photo to paint. I love her blue eyes the most. When I was doing this painting, I tried to focus on her beautiful skin. But after I finished, I was not very happy with the way it shows. Anyway, this is my first time done people's portrait, I learned a lot from this practice. Hopefully she will be satisfied with my painting.

Happy New Year to everyone!

"City Rooftops"

City Rooftops
6 x 6"
Oil on Board
Hello everyone! Finally I am back to painting. I haven't paint for few months, why?...I will tell you later. :-) --maybe it could be another strategy to keep you coming back visit!
I am back to Karin's challenge. OMG, it is city's roofs this time (I guess next time she will take picture for the city from the air plane, haha)! I am not good at abstract, also don't want to paint it to be too realistic. So...here it comes a painting between, but I feel it still can be loosen up a little bit.

"Rower in Lake Michigan"

Rower in Lake Michigan
5 x 7"
Oil on Board
Once again, here is another challenge from Karin Jurick's "DSFDF" blog. I love the hazy atmosphere in the picture, it makes me feel pretty 'Zen' at that moment. Painting the colorful ripples is so excited. I really feel a little bit of sea sick after finished. Am I so weak or my painting is so good?! ;-)

"Girls on The Bench"

Girls on The Bench
8 x 8"
Oil on Board

This small painting took me more than 3 days to finish. I thought that it would be easy to paint white dress, but I was wrong! Anyway, I need to practice more in the future. I just love the kids in classical dresses.

"Colonial Girls"

Colonial Girls
8" x 10"
Oil on Board

This painting is referred from one of my vacation photos this year. We went to visit Colonial Williamsburg, these two cute grils dressed in Colonial style just walking in front of us. They walked so fast, the beautiful dresses make them look like butterflies. So, before they 'fly' away, I took a nice shoot for the perfect moment.

"Mother's Day at Beach"

6" x 6"
Oil on Board
I painted this picture above as a Mother's Day gift for my mother-in-law. I am thinking about another subject to paint for my mom in China on her birthday later. She is not used to celebrate Mother's Day in China.

This is the first challenge that I took from Karin Jurick's "DSFDF" blog.
Also, this is my FIRST blog where I start posting my paintings and comments, to share those memorable moments with everyone!
Writing my thoughts in English...:-( --It is another challenge to me!

Thanks for your visiting!!
