"Family Guardian"-Giraffes

Family Guardian
8 x 10"
Oil on 1/8" thick gessoboard
Sold
I love my giraffe family "portrait" painting, the father giraffe always watch out to protect the family, three of them make a beautiful sence in the picture at that moment. The flecks ( forgive me if it is not the right word) on their bodies are so tough, I tried hard to paint them like real and natural, it is the first time to paint, I love the challenge and will do more in the future when I have the chance.
This painting represents the thanks and loves for hard work guys who taking care the family everyday--such as my hubby, since I become staying home mom, he becomes the breadwinner of our family. He goes to work before the sunrise, comes home after dark, works under pressures... I believe there are many of dads work just like that for their loving families all year long. It is time to enjoy the holidays, let's be grateful for them!

Swan Lake

"Sunny Road Trip"

Sunny Road Trip
8 x 8"
Oil on 1  1/2" Thick Gallery Wrapped Canvas
Sold

The side-views
I always feel so impressive when I see the blue sky and white clouds on the road trips with my husband. I don't see much blue sky when I was in Beijing because of the pollutions were so bad in the city. This is one of the beautiful scene I remembered at a road trip to Washington D.C.. We were such "road warriors" back then.
This painting I did on an 1 1/2" thick, gallery wrapped stretched canvas, painted four sides, ready to hang and display.

"American Apple Pie"-Photos From My 1st. Thanksgiving

It was my first real American home made apple pie on thanksgiving 9 years ago. I even got the chance cutting holes for the crust before they put into the oven. I tried to made it creative with Chinese word "fortune" on top. My husband's family are traditional New England family, had apple pies in their whole lives but never seen Chinese word on top of the American apple pie!--I always thought it would be very funny if I put "Made in China" on it!

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! Be grateful for everything we have! Enjoy the holiday with family and friends!

Thank you for following my blog and supporting my paintings!

"Little Man's Big Catch"-Gift for family

Little Man's Big Catch
16 x 20"
Oil on canvas
This is my painting done by a photo reference that my husband took for his brother and my husband's fishing buddy. My brother-in-law got a chance having vacation with us last year, they three went out fishing that day, and he caught a big sailfish (I think that is what they called), my husband and his friend were all so happy for him because there are not many people can catch this size of fish everytime they go out the ocean. Also my brother-in-law's nickname is "little man", so I think this title is really fit him.
It is my first time paint fish and have a lot of fun with it--I always admire and impress by artist Guy Harvey 's dynamic fish painitngs. I am very proud of my first try. My husband even said that the best looking one is the fish in this painting! :-)

"Holiday At Dock"

Holiday At Dock
8 x 8"
Oil on gessoboard
Sold
I found these beautiful nautical style ornaments in the store, they are really bit of challenge to paint for me. The dock line and knots wrap around the balls, the see-through colored glass with high light and reflection...I set up these two balls on a piece of wood with light blue back ground, created the holiday spirit at a dock somewhere. Hope everyone enjoy the painting and the coming holiday as well.

Pumpkin Picks Pumpkin

Too many choices...

My final choice!-because this is what I can carry.

Everybody has a good weekend! I didn't get chance to paint, kind of busy with my 19 months old one at local farm's pumpkin patch. It is a great season to be out in FL.

This is my entry of DPW challenge for this week.  In the new world, more and more people rely on contact each other with their hi-technology devices so much, but they seems like are loosing the easiest way of communication--just chat in person.
Thanks to Layne's challenge for this week!

"Sweet Dream"

Sweet Dream
5 x 7"
Oil on wood board
Sold

This painting is my contribution to this week's DPW "The Help the Children of Africa" challenge. The final winning bid 100% donated to Save the Children Global Action Fund  already.
Babies could not choose where to be born, but we can help them to get on the same track as other babies, provide the basic needs for them. I chose this subject to present my feeling. They are new born lambs, looks so weak and helpless, all they can do is having a sweet dream for tomorrow...

"Prosperity"

Prosperity
6 x 3.75"
Oil on Wood board
I think that no other people will be more superstition than Chinese. We all follow that "rules" telling us what to do, what not to do in daily things. For me, the easy way to keep my luck and energy around me and the family all the time, is to get a very prosperous lucky bamboo in the house, carefully set on the special place, take good care of it. I don't know if it really works or just because I gain more confidence after have the bamboo, it seems like we all get blessed!

"Double Pears"

Double Pears
4 x 4"
Oil on Wood board
Sold

In China, pear has good fortune meaning because we pronounce pear as "Li", it is similar pronounciation to "wealth", "profit" in Chinese. So, when the holiday especially Chinese New Year comes, people put some pears on the table to hope they can have good fortune all year long. Here I painted these two red pears to bring everybody some luck!

This cat is from downtown Annapolis MD., love his relaxing motion by the door while watching everyone passing in the busy street. I took photo for him when we had vacation in Maryland. I guess maybe he is a cousin of Garfield's! -- he has such worriless life in these days than us.

This week, the DPW challenge is Karla's "Paint Your Mug Challenge". I finally get chance to show off one of my award from work few years ago--a big old coffee mug. It is seems like a soup bowl with a handle, doesn't have any fancy print on it, but I just love the way to hold it and drink up my daily fuel--coffee or soup.:-]
